Dr G. Mmasetjana Lekganyane is the senior lecturer in the Department of Social Work under the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education. Dr Lekganyane has served in Higher Education space for a period of 15 years to date. Her contributions in the academic space include among others: an ex-board member of UNIVEN PROVIDENT FUND, an ex- member of UNIVEN Higher Degrees committee and ex-Coordinator of Masters Social Work programme. She also served as a secretary for SAFOS and ALASA conferences that took place respectively at Univen in 2007 and 2008. Dr Lekganyane played an outstanding role in the Development of the UNIVEN Masters Social Work programme. She has also developed 6 multipurpose centers at Limpopo through AGE IN ACTION, one of which is named after her as Mmasetjana-Dudišanang Bagolo Aged Center. She is currently co-chairing for Community Engagement, Partnerships and Linkages including Internationalization in the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education and she is also a member of SAHECEF. She has contributed immensely in the development of the supervision guideline and frame work for job readiness under the auspices of South African Council for Social Service Profession. Dr Lekganyane research interests are around foster care programmes, substance abuse, disability, and most importantly teenage pregnancies. Her work focus is on environmental social work and social research. She has co-produced a PhD candidate, 3 masters’ students and several BSW students including one Honours student in one sisterly Department. She has assessed a thesis as an external examiner in one University, recently. Her recent publications are:
