Background
- Funding is available to support two postdoctoral fellows at the University of Venda (UNIVEN) as part of WSARP. Positions are available in the areas of antimicrobial resistance and environmental health.
- The value of the fellowship is R350 000 per annum.
- The scholarship will only be offered for one year (12 months), once off.
- Successful applicants will be required to take up appointments on 1 September 2022, and sign performance contracts with their supervisors.
Eligibility
- South African citizens, including permanent residents.
- Disabled individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
- A successfully completed PhD or equivalent degree within the last 5 years, in a relevant science domain.
Minimum required competencies
Applicants for studies on antimicrobial resistance:
- Molecular microbiology
- Next generation sequencing and analysis
- Scientific writing
- Laboratory quality assurance procedures
Applicants for studies on environmental health studies:
- Environmental sampling
- LC/MS and GC/MS operation and data analysis
- Scientific writing
- The possession of a driver’s license will be an advantage (environmental sampling).
