The presentation on Digital Storytelling and an overview and a brief history by André Daniels provided a comprehensive introduction to digital storytelling (DST). He defined DST as a participatory media process that merges traditional storytelling with modern technology, incorporating video, images, text, and sound. His presentation traces its ori-gins to Dana Atchley in the 1980s and the Berkeley-based Centre for Digital Storytelling (CDS), highlighting its use in various social causes, such as HIV/AIDS awareness. André further outlined the storytelling process, emphasising key elements like emotional con-tent, point of view, pacing, and the use of meaningful audio. As he concluded his presen-tation, he also discussed essential software and hardware tools for creating DST proj-ects and included practical exercises to help individuals develop their own digital stories.
