Working as a Campus Security personnel from the University of Venda, a father of four, Mr Pfarelo Emmanuel Naledzani, from Tshiulungoma, outside Thohoyandou, decided to take it upon himself to further his studies. A 36-year-old Mr Naledzani registered for a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Agriculture, UNIVEN. After a year joining the University as a Security Officer, Mr Naledzani crossed the stage of the University Auditorium when he received his Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning during UNIVEN 2024 Autumn Graduation ceremonies. Mr Naledzani was over the moon when he received his degree on 15 May 2024. Before joining UNIVEN Innovative Growth Company (UIGC) in 2023, he worked for eight different security companies. Mr Naledzani said “Throughout my entire life, 2023 was a difficult year; I was a family man, preoccupied with my research project, and working at the same time, yet I’m glad my name is now associated with a degree and is no longer just a name”.
In addition, Mr Naledzani said “No matter how many times you fall along the way, keep trying until you succeed. Get up and try again.” Mr Naledzani expressed his gratitude to his wife for her support and loyalty during his studies, hence the journey to his degree was not a walk over. God’s time is the best, says Mr Pfarelo Naledzani as he wraps up.
