The University of Venda has recently hosted the career exhibition at Tshimbupfe to cater for students who did not make it to the 2017 Univen Careers Exhibition held in May due to the strike that took place in the area at the time. The Career exhibition was held at Tshimbupfe Sports Ground, Vuwani on Friday, 07 July 2017. The career Exhibition was attended by 665 learners, 19 exhibitors and 13 schools from Vuwani area.
Take the application forms to make a difference in your life -Mr. Takalani Nyelisani.
Mr Takalani Nyelisani, Univen Schools Liaison Officer said: “We are here to motivate you and to support your dreams. We want to make sure that you realise your dreams. We are not only doing this for you but with the hopes that this villages will be transformed.” Mr Nyelisani also advised students to use the opportunity and apply in time. He further advised them not to take forms just because their friends are taking. ”Take application forms to make a difference in your life”, said Mr
Nyelisani. He further told the learners that the closing date for 2018 applications for admission and hostel accommodation is Friday, 29 September 2017.
Amongst the speakers of the day was Prof Takalani Mashau from the School of Education, Mrs Sharon Mashau, Head of Communications and Marketing, Mrs Gloria Dama, Univen Student Counsellor and Mrs Tshifhiwa Matodzi from Centre for Higher Education Teaching and Learning (CHETL) who encouraged the learners to focus on what will benefit them and to stop playing and also impressing friends while not getting valuable information from different institutions. Learners were also told that students with disability are also catered for and they were told that Univen’s CHETL has devices that make it easier for the disabled students to get the best education.
Wake up and make a difference in your life -Mr Gideon Ramulifho.
Mr Gideon Ramulifho, Curriculum Advisor at the Department of Education in Vhembe District first acknowledged that he likes the name “Vuwani” because it simply means ‘wake up and make a difference in your life.’ “This is the time when you have to make decisions about your life. It is time to take charge of your life. It is time to build bridges to your future goals,” he told learners. Mr Ramulifho further thanked Univen and exhibitors for seeing the importance of coming to learners
who did not make it to the 2017 Univen Career Exhibition because of the complications that were beyond learners’ control. He advised learners to use the opportunity and to ask as many questions as they can because opportunities like these do not come easy.
Mr Ratshikwekwete Netshimbupfe speaking on behalf of Tshimbupfe Royal Chieftaincy
Speaking on behalf of Tshimbupfe Royal Chieftaincy, Mr Ratshikwekwete Netshimbupfe urged students to take education as a key to a bright future and pure wisdom. He further elaborated on the importance of education. Mr Netshimbupfe told learners to take their lives serious and to make use of the career exhibition because the future of Vuwani and the country at large is in their hands.
Ndivho Monareng, a grade 12 learner from Mugoidwa Secondary School thanked Univen for giving them this special opportunity. He said he wishes to enroll for LLB at Univen next year.

Ethol Nobela, Marketing Manager of Africa Training Centre was thankful to be part of the career exhibition because, “learners are taking forms and are also asking very important questions. This shows that the learners really know what they want and are serious about their future.”
