At a recent Award ceremony hosted by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture held at the Lilongwe International Conference Centre in Malawi, the Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of Venda Prof. Peter Mbati was honoured with the First Runner up RUFORUM IMPRESSA Award. Mbati was recognized for excellence in research, institutional transformation and building Africa’s human resource capacity. The award comprised of a trophy, a certificate and US$ 15,000.00.

Present at the handing over ceremony were Honourable Bright Msaka, SC, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Government of Malawi; Honourable George Kronnisanyon Werner, Minister of Education, Government of Liberia; Honourable Dr. Muyingo John Chrysostom, Minister of State for Higher Education, Government of Uganda; and over 300 participants that included Vice-Chancellors representing the 66 member universities, development partners and other dignitaries.
Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Principals and Deans from 35 African Countries, together with development partners from within and outside Africa, and recipients of the various RUFORUM 2017 Awards.
