The University of Venda (Univen) warmly welcomes the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) in a paramount meeting of strengthening partnership. The aim of the engagement was for Univen and CATHSSETA to nurture the existing partnership towards the implementation of the skills plan sector. The meeting took place in the Council Chambers on recently.
Prof Peter Mbati says Univen needs partners to assist the University towards the achievement of development and general skills.
In his opening and welcoming remarks, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Venda, Prof Peter Mbati, appreciated the visit and interest shown by CATHSSETA to Univen. As Prof Mbati addressed the importance and need of funds at the University, he said “Even when challenges are still encountered, the improvement of schools achievements with general skills are in light. Bursaries become more important looking at where we are located. We appreciate the bursary you offer too”, Prof Mbati said.

Sabelo Silinga, Acting Chief Executive Officer of CATHSSETA, said that the programme is aimed at creating and improving tailored programmes, primarily those experiencing financial and development challenges. He further elaborated that CATHSSETA have a significant focus on addressing financial challenges in rural areas. “We have an active team and staff who are interested in helping universities in development programmes, mostly those in rural areas”, he added.

Moving with the point of Sabela, the Regional Manager of CATHSSETA, Phamela Khosa, in her presentation highlighted the programme as it is one of many to change lives of the communities in need. “We have discretionary grants to implement the sector skill plan and achieve its objectives In relation to the development of the sector”, said Khosa.
