The Department of Physics offers the following degree programmes
- Bachelor of Science in:
- Physics and Mathematics
- Physics and Chemistry
Entry requirements: Matric with passes in Mathematics, English, Physical Science and any other related subject.
- BSc Honours degree in Physics
Entry requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Physics with an average of 60% for the third-year level and a pass in Mathematics at the second-year level.
- MSc in Physics by research (dissertation)
Entry requirements: BSc Honours degree in Physics
- PhD in Physics
Entry requirements: An MSc in Physics or any other equivalent qualification.
Research
Research in the Department of Physics fall into the following major areas:
- Renewable energy :Solar energy, Biomass
- Computational Physics for Solar Energy Harvesting.
- Materials and Nanomaterials for energy harvesting, photocatalysis and sensing applications.
- Low Field Microwave Absorption in selected superconducting materials
