The University of Venda joins hands with other Institutions of Higher Learning, the country, the continent and the world at large in condemning the spate of gender-based violence and xenophobic attacks that are currently afflicting our country.
UNIVEN condemns such barbaric actions in the strongest possible terms and invite the entire staff and students to join hands in condemning these horrendous atrocities directed at women, children and foreign nationals in our campuses, communities and the country at large.
“We call on all religious, political and traditional leaders to spread the same message in their respective communities and churches, most importantly, to encourage community members to respect the rights of women and children. Let us be united and work together in our endeavor to cease the gender-based violence and xenophobic attacks. Let us embrace the culture of Ubuntu and diversity in our communities.” says UNIVEN Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Bernard Nthambeleni.
UNIVEN pledges its support to all national and international efforts that are aimed at curbing the scourge of gender-based violence and xenophobic attacks in all their manifestations.
